Dear Friends of the Canada-Caribbean Institute:

The western Caribbean, specifically Jamaica, Haiti, Cayman Islands and Cuba are being battered by Hurricane Melissa. Some headlines suggest this could be Jamaica's biggest storm in history. These countries are going to need more than thoughts and prayers to recover.

While it is too soon for the various agencies to have a firm handle on the scale of the disaster, we should be helping those who can help to get ready.

This post gives some preliminary suggestions on how you can donate to the effort.
