The UWI Faculties of Social Sciences and Medical Sciences will present “Dying to be beautiful: Body Image, Eating Behaviours, and Health in the Caribbean”, December 6-8, 2024, Kingston, Jamaica.
The Dying to be Beautiful Conference brings focus and conversations to healthcare challenges and marginalized topics such as body image, colorism, excessive social media use, weight concerns, and eating behaviours faced by people in the Caribbean and by extension other similar ethnic groups and colonized nations. By bringing together an international group of healthcare providers and scholars, these healthcare challenges are viewed through a scientific lens, which are examined closely for a deeper understanding, translatable to the public. The knowledge and expertise garnered from this conference will inform policy and provide further training for those involved in the management and healthcare of our people. We encourage individuals to submit original research, workshops, theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, case studies, and articles on psychology and health behaviours in the public interest.

Presenters and other interested authors also have the opportunity to submit their fully developed manuscripts for peer-review and possible publication in a special issue of the Caribbean Journal of Psychology. We encourage individuals to submit original research, theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, case studies, and pieces on psychology and health behaviours in the public interest.
