
The UWI Toronto Benefit Awards has been a fixture in Toronto for 15 years. It is held annually to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations while supporting aspiring students in dire financial need. Patrons of the UWI Gala include Dr. Donette Chin-Loy Chang, Mr. Andrew Chang, Ms. Brigette Chang, Mr. Kevin Hibbert and his wife Ann-Marie Hibbert who passionately support the UWI Awards and its Student Scholarship Fund. Scotiabank continues its support as the Lead Sponsor for the 15th consecutive year. The event receives tremendous support from the corporate sector, reflecting the commitment of businesses to education and social responsibility.
Over the years, the UWI Toronto Benefit Awards has awarded 700 scholarships to aspiring students. These scholarships provide a lifeline to education for those facing financial hardships.
The gala recognizes and honors extraordinary contributions by individuals and organizations. It celebrates their impact on education, community development, and country development.
The 15th Annual UWI Toronto Benefit Awards is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ritz Carlton. The theme for the 2024 event is “Lighting the Way Together”, emphasizing how collective donations, financial support, and inspiration serve as a lifeline for students eager to fulfill their educational dreams.
