Four years in the making, “Crafted Kinship: A Journey Through Black Caribbean Creativity,” is a vibrant celebration of over 60 contemporary Black Caribbean makers reshaping the boundaries of art and design. Through powerful interviews and stunning photography, this book immerses you in a rich tapestry of multidisciplinary creativity—from bold ceramics to intricate textiles. Dive deep into stories of identity, Black womanhood and manhood, and the complex legacies of migration and diaspora as each artist connects heritage with innovation in ways that will inspire and captivate.
Malene Barnett is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, designer, and founder of the Black Artists + Designers Guild. Her work has been exhibited in leading museums and galleries across the U.S. and featured in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, and more. Crafted Kinship, published by Hachette, marks her debut as an author, offering an intimate exploration of the Caribbean diaspora’s artistic landscape.
