Do you have what it takes to design a new logo for the Institute?

If you are a graphics designer or visual artist, or know someone who is…please have look.

The CCI has used the same visual “branding” since our formation. Our current logo has served us well. However, comments have suggested that it could be more representative of the Institute’s membership and it’s mission.

But how are we to develop a new one?

Sadly, our Executive Director/Webmaster is artistically challenged. In trying to rise to the occasion with a design they tried to involve an AI process to see what might be produced.

The AI followed instructions (design a logo that reflects the CCI’s education and collaboration theme, as well as the Canadian, and Caribbean (CARICOM and Member States), membership. The result (see below) is a workman-like reflection of these instructions. The AI’s draft logo contains references to Canada (a stylized Maple Leaf and Pine Tree), it contains references to the Caribbean (main colours of Caribbean country flags, a palm frond, as well as the “double CC” of CARICOM). A graduation cap and open book reflect the idea of education; and a stylized beach/ocean finish the piece. Not bad for a first attempt…though it does bear that “made by AI” look.

Logo design by Microsoft Copilot

It’s not bad…but what we need is a real person, probably with an artistic or graphic design background, to develop a new logo. Is that someone you? or someone you know?

If you are up to the challenge consider this our “call for designs”. We are seeking to have some options for a potential new logo for consideration by the Board of Directors later this year. We cannot pay you for your design…but we can commit to give you full credit for it on our social media and the satisfaction of seeing your work in the real world.

The instructions to all designers are the same as were given to the AI. We need a logo that is representative of the geographic location of our members and that also reflects the mission of the Institute.

If you can help us please submit your designs to us by September 1, 2025. Designs (or further questions) should be submitted to canadacaribbeaninstitute@gmail.com
