The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) yesterday marked a milestone with the arrival of Air Transat’s inaugural direct flight between Canada and Guyana.
A release from the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation said that the service will operate twice weekly until May 29, 2026, using the Airbus A321LR, a next-generation aircraft recognized for its efficiency and comfort.
Minister of Public Utilities and Avia-tion, Deodat Indar, said that the new service aligns with the Government of Guyana’s strategic objectives for aviation and national development.
“The commencement of this Air Tran-sat service reflects the Government’s continued efforts to expand Guyana’s international air connectivity,” Indar said, according to the release.
